Crossbats is proud to support local charity StreetInvest
Crossbats is proud to include the local charity StreetInvest on our LMS shirts. Founded by our grumpiest player Duncan “the Banker” Ross in 2008, StreetInvest now hosts a Global Alliance for Street Work of 67 organisations around the world working among some 126,000 street children.
StreetInvest’s simple vision of a trustworthy adult for every street-connected child has taken them on an extraordinary journey, one they have shared with their partners and the children they support. For millions of children around the world, the ‘street’ is the formative part of their lives as home, workplace or playground. These children routinely experience abuse, are cast out from their communities and are denied the right to education, basic care … and a voice. StreetInvest are fighting to reduce the abuse and discrimination that street-connected children suffer and are helping them to develop and fulfil their potential.
StreetInvest’s work included acting as facilitator for the Street Child World Cup of Cricket here in England last year. For children who have never had any identification let alone recognition, the idea of receiving a passport, visa and two weeks travel culminating in a game of cricket on the hallowed turf of Lords is what we call realising true potential.
