Now, nearly at the end of August, in the most miserable summer since records began, this was a game of two halves, one wet, one dry. It really was a horrible afternoon with heavy rain taking the gloss off, what was, a thrilling game of cricket.

Despite missing several catch chances in the field we managed to contain our opposition to 149 runs.

When our time came to bat the Duck Cup contenders queued up to stake their claim. The mild mannered Steve Smith was not so calm ( bat flying, red as a angry bull) after being given a shocker by reluctant umpire Daddy Fitch. Collier batted throughout the innings finally perishing, caught in the last over at mid wicket, as he chased the last six runs to win.

Fun game, decent opposition, shame someone had to loose.

Looks like we are back in form to take on The Rain Men next week.
